ELPIS/natura fragile

Elpìs comes from ancient Greek and means hope: the only gift that, according to mythology, remained inside Pandora’s jar after all the evils escaped into the world.
Elpìs / Fragile Nature is born from this image of silent resistance and reflects on the vulnerability of our ecosystem, while also celebrating its strength and its capacity for regeneration.

The works are created in porcelain, black coral, and mother of pearl delicate materials chosen to evoke the fragility and richness of the ocean floor.
I treated the porcelain as if it were a coastal fragment emerging from the sea: a porous rock on which traces of life, shells, sediments, and luminous elements like mother-of-pearl have settled.
These surfaces tell the story of a submerged landscape, where matter becomes memory.

The pieces are either entirely white or crossed with shades of blue, a colour that recalls the depth of the sea and the sense of stillness it carries.

Within the Elpìs /Fragile Nature series, a further investigation unfolds on the relationship between humans and animals, with particular attention to the exploitation of the plumage of many bird species.
I chose to create hybrid forms flying creatures to which I applied white peacock feathers, all collected from natural moulting.
The act of adorning becomes a reflection on the fine line between beauty and respect, between care and responsibility.

Elpìs is therefore an act of restitution and of hope: a fragment of marine and animal landscape brought back to the surface, an invitation to contemplate nature in its fragile, powerful, and unrepeatable beauty.

Elpìs deriva dal greco antico e significa speranza: l’unico dei doni che, secondo la mitologia, rimase custodito nel vaso di Pandora dopo che tutti i mali furono liberati nel mondo.
Elpìs/Natura fragile nasce da questa immagine di resistenza silenziosa e vuole riflettere sulla vulnerabilità del nostro ecosistema, celebrando al tempo stesso la sua forza e la sua capacità di rigenerarsi.

Le opere sono realizzate in porcellana, corallo nero e madreperla  materiali delicati  scelti per evocare la fragilità e la ricchezza dei fondali marini.
Ho trattato la porcellana come se fosse un frammento costiero riemerso dal mare: una roccia porosa su cui si sono depositate tracce di vita, conchiglie, sedimenti ed elementi luminosi come la madreperla.
Queste superfici raccontano un paesaggio sommerso, dove la materia diventa memoria.

Le opere sono interamente bianche oppure attraversate da sfumature di blu, colore che richiama le profondità marine e il senso di quiete che ne deriva.

All’interno della serie Elpìs / Natura fragile si sviluppa anche un’indagine sul rapporto tra uomo e animale, e in particolare sullo sfruttamento del piumaggio di molti volatili.
Ho scelto di creare delle forme ibride, animali volanti, a cui ho applicato piume di pavoni bianchi, tutte provenienti dalla muta naturale.
Il gesto di adornare diventa così una riflessione sul confine tra bellezza e rispetto, cura e responsabilità.

Elpìs è quindi un atto di restituzione e di speranza: un frammento di paesaggio marino e animale riportato in superficie, un invito a contemplare la natura nella sua fragile, potente e irripetibile bellezza.
