APTICO

APTICO is a performance born from the desire to reconnect with the world through touch.
At the center of the work is my body a space of encounter, relation, and transformation.
The audience is invited to interact with me, to touch me, and to take part in a shared gesture that becomes a symbol of rebirth.

Context

As Giuliana Bruno¹ writes, the haptic is a “function of the skin,” a “mutual contact between ourselves and the environment.”
It is the act of perceiving the world through the living matter of the body.
In recent decades, we have moved from a visual to a tactile paradigm: seeing has given way to touching, to feeling.
Anthropologist Ashley Montagu², in his seminal book The Language of the Skin, demonstrated how physical contact is fundamental to emotional and relational development and how its absence can generate isolation and pain.

From this reflection on the value of contact, APTICO takes shape as a project that merges performance, sculpture, and image.
The first iteration was presented in 2018 in Pisa, at the Prolegomena and Hawsers festival, and in Rome at Carrozzerie N.O.T., where the audience was invited to apply gold leaf onto my body.
This ritual gesture made physical contact the primary expressive language of the work.

The Performance

Over time, the project has evolved, taking on a more intimate and personal meaning.
APTICO was born out of a moment of profound personal suffering and represents for me a process of healing and rebirth.
My body becomes the core of the work the place where transformation happens.
Through the touch of the other the spectator, the stranger a relationship of trust and mutual listening is created.

Applying gold leaf onto my skin becomes an act of care, a shared gesture that restores dignity, strength, and awareness.
Gold, a precious metal and symbol of light, becomes a second skin  a visible sign of rebirth.

The performance is accompanied by live music from Eriko Wakamatsu, creating a dialogue between body and sound, vulnerability and power.

Objective

The aim of APTICO is to create a space where art and life meet.
The audience is invited to become an active part of the process not a passive spectator, but a living presence and co-creator.
Through contact, gesture, and participation, a new form of relationship emerges a shared ritual of recognition and rebirth.

APTICO is an act of love towards the body, towards others, and towards the possibility of rediscovering oneself through touch.

APTICO è una performance che nasce dal desiderio di riconnettermi con il mondo attraverso il tatto.
Al centro del lavoro c’è il mio corpo, inteso come luogo di incontro, di relazione e di trasformazione.
Il fruitore è invitato a entrare in contatto con me, a toccarmi, a partecipare a un gesto condiviso che diventa simbolo di rinascita.

Contesto

L’aptico, come scrive Giuliana Bruno¹, è una “funzione della pelle”, il “mutuo contatto tra noi e l’ambiente”.
È la percezione del mondo attraverso la materia viva del corpo.
Negli ultimi decenni siamo passati da un paradigma visivo a uno tattile: il vedere ha ceduto il passo al toccare, al sentire.
L’antropologo Ashley Montagu², nel suo celebre libro Il linguaggio della pelle, ha mostrato quanto il contatto fisico sia fondamentale per lo sviluppo emotivo e relazionale dell’essere umano, e come la sua assenza possa generare isolamento e dolore.

Da questa riflessione sul valore del contatto nasce APTICO, un lavoro che unisce performance, scultura e immagine.
La prima versione è stata presentata nel 2018 a Pisa, al festival Prolegomena e Hawsers, e a Roma alle Carrozzerie N.O.T., dove il pubblico è stato invitato ad applicare foglie d’oro sul mio corpo.
Quel gesto rituale, semplice e diretto, ha fatto del contatto fisico il suo linguaggio principale.

La performance

Nel tempo, il progetto si è trasformato, assumendo un significato sempre più intimo e profondo.
APTICO nasce da un momento di sofferenza personale e rappresenta per me un processo di guarigione e di rinascita.
Il mio corpo diventa il centro dell’opera, il luogo dove avviene la trasformazione.
Attraverso il tocco dell’altro – del fruitore, dello sconosciuto – si costruisce una relazione di fiducia e ascolto reciproco.

Applicare le foglie d’oro sulla mia pelle diventa un atto di cura, un gesto condiviso che restituisce dignità, forza e consapevolezza.
L’oro, metallo prezioso e simbolo di luce, si trasforma in una seconda pelle: segno visibile di una rinascita.

La performance sarà accompagnata dalle note della musicista Eriko Wakamatsu, in un dialogo tra corpo e suono, vulnerabilità e potenza.

Obiettivo

L’obiettivo di APTICO è creare uno spazio in cui arte e vita si incontrano.
Il pubblico è invitato a diventare parte attiva del processo, non semplice spettatore, ma presenza viva e co-creatrice.
Attraverso il contatto, il gesto e la partecipazione, nasce una nuova forma di relazione, un rito condiviso di riconoscimento e di rinascita.

APTICO è un atto d’amore verso il corpo, verso l’altro e verso la possibilità di ritrovare sé stessi attraverso il tocco.
